Construction and control joints for unreinforced concrete slabs resting on compacted fill. The construction joint features smooth round dowels or diamond load plate dowels sized per the dowel schedule, with one end of the smooth dowel wrapped or coated. The control joint includes a sawcut with tooled edges to a required depth of one and one-quarter inches minimum. A dowel schedule provides specific dimensions for smooth round dowels and diamond load plate dowels based on slab thickness ranging from five to eight inches. General notes specify that control joints must be perpendicular to construction joints with a maximum spacing of fifteen feet.
