A steel beam connects to a column web using a drag plate welded to the web and bolted to the beam web with one-inch diameter slip-critical bolts sized per the elevation table. Horizontal stiffener plates are welded to the column web aligned with the beam flanges, maintaining a three-eighths inch gap at the beam end. A one-eighth inch gap separates the drag plate from the column flange face. All welding is specified as drag welds to the column web.
