A hollow structural section member connects to a ledger using typical side plates secured with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. Two weld symbols are specified per each hollow structural section at a spacing dimensioned at four and one-half inches. The side plates are welded to the ledger with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld.
