An elevator spreader beam constructed from a hollow structural section ties into a wide-flange steel support member using a three-eighths-inch plate with shims as required. Four seven-eighths-inch diameter Grade A325 bolts tightened to a snug condition secure the connection through the plate and member flange. A three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld fastens the assembly according to the specified dimensions.
