Installation sequence and weld requirements for a buckling-restrained brace collar assembly shipped loose with the brace. After the brace is in place and fully welded to the gusset plates, the re-bar stop is removed and the collar assembly is slid against the edge of the gusset plate. Field welds of five-sixteenths inch size are specified for the collar assembly to both the core plate and the gusset plate. Optional locations allow the core plate weld at the top or bottom side, and the gusset plate weld at the near or far side.
