Metal grating is split at the column edge with a one-quarter-inch by one-and-one-quarter-inch typical band plate. A grating support plate provided by the structural steel fabricator is installed beneath the assembly. A clearance of three-quarters-inch minimum to two inches maximum is maintained at the column per notes. The grating bearing bar edge requires no band plate at the split location.
