A hollow structural section column welds to a base plate anchored to a concrete foundation. A five-sixteenths inch fillet weld secures the hollow structural section column to the base plate. Four anchor rods with washers, nuts, and leveling nuts secure the assembly, maintaining a one and one-half inch nominal non-shrink grout space beneath the plate. The anchor rods feature six inches minimum threaded bolt projection and an optional half-inch diameter weep hole. A grout hole is provided optionally in the base plate, aligned with centerlines of the column and plate.
