This connection detail joins a steel beam to a structural steel column flange using a bolted single plate shear tab and continuity plates at the top and bottom flanges. The shear tab thickness is specified as the beam web thickness plus one-quarter inch. Bolt size, quantity, and second row requirements are determined per project note three, maintaining standard edge distances and a three-inch minimum dimension. Continuity plates at the top and bottom column flanges are sized using the larger of dimensions TF1 or TF2, with typical field welding indicated.
