A steel beam connection at a roof offset frames W16 and W12 beams into a hollow structural section member. The connection utilizes a 1/4 inch plate welded with quarter-inch fillet welds on near and far sides, alongside bolted shear connections. The beam flange requires cutting and chipping on the near side to accommodate the geometry, and the connecting plate is extended at the W16 framing condition.
