An HSS post above bears on a one-half-inch by ten-inch by zero-foot-eight-inch base plate welded to the flanges of supporting steel beams. A three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld connects the base plate to the beam flanges typically. Five-eighth-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld. The beams are sized per plan and intersect orthogonally beneath the post.
