An open web steel joist is reinforced at a concentrated load location by adding diagonal web members consisting of minimum two-by-two by three-sixteenth-inch angles. The concentrated load is positioned within six inches of the adjacent panel point, requiring the additional web members to transfer the high shear forces into the top and bottom chords. These supplementary angle members span between the top and bottom chords alongside the existing web configuration.
