A hollow structural section post connects to a landing beam sized per plan using two 3-inch by 3-inch by 1/4-inch angles on each side, secured with 3/16-inch fillet welds. A separate channel member connects using a 3/8-inch by 4-inch by 9-inch plate and intersecting angles welded with 3/16-inch fillet welds on both the near side and far side typically.
