A hollow structural section steel column receives framing from steel beams and diagonal steel braces. The steel brace is slotted per detail 15 on sheet S52-01 and connects via a half-inch plate sized to the beam depth plus a half-inch. Two seven-eighth-inch A325-N through bolts in standard holes secure the connection. A typical one-half-inch clearance is maintained between intersecting members. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size are typical at the gusset plate connections.
