A roof truss connects to a wide-flange column per plan using a three-sixteenths inch weld. A three-quarter-inch stabilizer plate ties the assembly together with a five-sixteenths inch typical fillet weld to the column flange. Stiffener plates are installed on both sides of the column web aligned with the connection. A lower connection point includes a plate welded with a three-sixteenths inch weld, leaving a specified portion left unwelded.
