A wide flange beam connects to a column via a five-sixteenths inch by four inch shear plate. The plate is shop-welded to the column flange with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld. The beam web is field-bolted to the shear plate using a variable number of bolts, denoted as N, to accommodate specific load requirements.
