A standard reinforcing configuration for a thirty-inch diameter drilled shaft with a three-inch clear cover includes vertical reinforcement equally spaced around the perimeter of the shaft. Lap splices feature hooks on two separate vertical bars with an alternate position of laps at one hundred eighty degrees every other hoop and a minimum lap length of six bar diameters or three inches typical.
