A hollow structural section column sized per plan bears on a concrete masonry unit wall with an optional masonry cap as required by the architect. Two three-quarter-inch diameter anchor bolts with twelve-inch legs anchor the base assembly. A half-inch thick steel plate is welded to the column using a three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld and extends over the masonry wall. Dimensions locate the column face one-half inch typical from the plate edge and five and one-half inches to the anchor bolt centerline.
