An equal depth steel beam connects to a supporting member flange using a shop-welded shear plate and field-installed bolts through the beam web. The beam flanges are coped as required at the top and bottom with a maximum one-inch clearance unless noted otherwise, maintaining a minimum two-times beam depth distance from the support. A vertical shear plate is welded to the support column flange with welds sized per schedule, and bolted to the supported beam web with two rows of bolts and larger plates where required.
