A pipe metal rail connects to a typical channel steel stringer sized per plan. A one-quarter-inch thick stiffener plate is welded inside the channel stringer web. Three-sixteenth-inch typical fillet welds secure the rail assembly. The stair fabricator provides the pipe metal rail in accordance with the California Building Code and architectural drawings.
