A two-inch by four-inch by two-foot steel plate with a yield strength of 50 KSI splices a continuous steel angle. The plate centers over the angle joint and secures with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld, six inches long, applied to each side of the splice. The assembly maintains a half-inch clearance between the plate and the angle edges.
