Plumbing penetration reinforcement for typical steel stud wall framing utilizes a stud reinforcement plate matching the stud size and thickness, fastened to the steel stud using eight total number ten screws spaced at six inches on center. The reinforcement extends twelve inches above and twelve inches below the penetration. Clearances require one inch at three and five-eighths inch studs or one and one-half inches at six-inch studs. The structural engineer must be contacted if a larger penetration is required.
