A slotted brace connection incorporates a gusset plate inserted into the end of a structural brace member. A three-quarter inch diameter erection bolt secures the brace to the gusset plate through pre-drilled holes. The slot terminates in a rounded relief cut with a radius calculated as the gusset thickness divided by two plus one-sixteenth of an inch. Erection clearance is maintained along the slot edges with a one-sixteenth inch gap per side.
