An interior concrete slab on grade and an exterior concrete slab transition over a cast-in-place concrete wall supported by a continuous concrete footing. Vertical wall reinforcing bars extend from the footing up into the wall, while continuous reinforcement runs along the top and bottom. The interface between the foundation wall and the slabs requires roughening the concrete surface to a one-quarter-inch amplitude to ensure proper bonding. A continuous reinforcing bar extends upward through the wall with a hooked end terminating in the slab on grade.
