A hollow structural section beam frames into an HSS post with a maximum half-inch gap. The connection is made using a three-eighths-inch thick plate at the top and a three-by-three by three-eighths-inch angle at the bottom, both sized in width to match the HSS beam and post dimensions per elevation. Quarter-inch fillet welds secure the connection plates to the framing members.
