This structural steel connection joins steel girders to a wide-flange column within a braced frame system. Continuity plates are located on each side of the column web, top and bottom, sized to match half the beam flange thickness with a minimum thickness of one-half inch and matching the column grade. A shear tab with a minimum thickness of three-eighths of an inch is welded to the column and serves as a backing bar for a complete joint penetration web weld. Erection bolts are provided as required by the contractor for field assembly.
