Blocking is placed at each end of the wall, adjacent to each opening, and at eight feet on center horizontally maximum between studs. The blocking consists of a piece of track or stud of the same gauge as the stud with the web bent and attached to studs with two number eight sheet metal screws to each flange. One number eight sheet metal screw is used at each intermediate stud. A thirty-three mils by two inch continuous strap or one and one-half inch channel is provided where no sheathing occurs. Gypsum board is attached per the international building code with four number eight sheet metal screws per block, and no strap is required at the gypsum board.
