Metal roof deck bears on a steel joist supported by a structural steel beam. A hollow structural section measuring HSS 5x5x3/16 acts as continuous blocking between steel joists and is welded with a 3/16-inch fillet weld at 12-inch spacing. A bent plate sits above the blocking assembly. A web stiffener is provided on the steel beam web.
