A wide-flange steel column bears on a base plate secured to a concrete foundation by headed anchor rods. Leveling nuts or steel shims are placed beneath the plate to establish the correct elevation over a one-and-a-half-inch nominal layer of non-shrink grout. Each anchor rod requires a washer and nut with a minimum six-inch threaded bolt projection. The column center line aligns with the base plate center line, and anchor rod sizes are referenced from the project schedule.
