A davit socket pedestal is mounted atop a structural steel beam sized per plan. The beam connects to a supporting column using a bolted shear tab and is reinforced with three-eighths-inch stiffener plates on each side welded to the beam web with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. A one-half-inch by four-inch plate sized to the beam width plus one inch is welded to the beam flanges with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. An alternative configuration for columns rotated ninety degrees is referenced.
