A heavy hollow structural section connection utilizes a one-and-a-quarter-inch thick end plate welded to an HSS 10x10x5/8 column with complete joint penetration welds. Three one-and-a-quarter-inch thick stiffener plates are provided typically around the perimeter to reinforce the connection. Sixteen one-and-a-quarter-inch diameter A490 anchor bolts secure the flanged assembly across the joint.
