A steel column and base plate are anchored directly to the top of a reinforced concrete beam and column intersection. Anchor bolts extend down into the concrete joint with a four-inch clearance. Beam reinforcement and column vertical reinforcement are detailed per schedule, featuring standard hooks on the column vertical bars. The concrete interface between the beam and lower column is intentionally roughened to ensure proper load transfer.
