A steel beam web connection features top and bottom copes to clear intersecting members. A 3/8-inch thick plate connects to the beam web using four bolts in a vertical line. A 3/16-inch fillet weld secures the plate to the structural member. Dimensional callouts indicate 1 1/2-inch clearances and cope depths designated as d_c, with a k dimension at the flange. Flanges are blocked as required to accommodate the weld according to the connection schedule.
