Two aligned sections of cold-formed metal framing top track meet end-to-end above supporting stud framing. An internal nested stud section measuring one foot two inches long, matching the track gauge, spans the joint from beneath. Six number ten self-tapping screws spaced at seven-eighths inches on center in a staggered pattern secure each side of the splice through the top flange.
