This structural steel sliding connection accommodates horizontal movement using a Teflon slide bearing system beneath a supported beam. The assembly features two 3/4-inch diameter bolts positioned at the centerline within a 6-inch long slotted hole. A plate measuring 2 inches by 12 inches is welded with a seven-sixteenths inch fillet weld typical. Base support plates measuring 1-1/2 inches by 12 inches by 1'-4" and 1-1/2 inches by 12 inches by 1'-6" transfer loads to the column below. A shear connection designed by the fabricator ties the adjacent beam to the column per plan.
