Open web steel joists bear on top of a wide flange steel beam with metal deck spanning across above, maintaining a one-half inch gap between joist ends. Two-inch long one-eighth inch fillet welds secure the joist seats to the supporting beam flange. Top of steel elevation is sized per plan, and matching joist seat depths are required where different joist series share the same bearing.
