A hollow structural section post connects to a beam sized per plan using three-eighths-inch thick top and bottom plates welded with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on three sides. Three-quarter-inch diameter thru-bolts fasten the HSS post through three-eighths-inch stiffener plates containing two standard long vertical slots each side. The assembly is secured using a nut and a jamb nut tightened snug-tight. Additional stiffener plates align with the HSS post connection.
