Concrete placed over a metal deck bears directly onto the top flange of a wide flange steel beam with a minimum one and a half inch bearing distance. Three quarter inch diameter welded headed studs secure the assembly to the beam flange as specified on plans. The top of the stud maintains a minimum three quarter inch clearance after welding. An optional placement shows the end of the deck aligning near the beam centerline.
