Typical skylight blockout framing along with structural steel connection assemblies. A hollow structural section framing member connects to a structural ledger, with a three-eighths-inch by three-inch by zero-foot-six-inch plate attached to each side of the hollow structural section. Fillet welds connect the side plates to the ledger and the hollow structural section to the side plates, using quarter-inch and half-inch weld sizes with specified lengths. The hollow structural section is coped at the ledger, and a continuous number five reinforcing bar anchors into the concrete or masonry element. Framing components also incorporate double two-by framing and sub-purlins sized per plan alongside roof purlins and wall panels.
