This slip connection utilizes a wide-flange beam supported by a vertical member, incorporating three-eighths inch plate web stiffeners welded to the web and flanges with one-quarter inch fillet welds. The connection is facilitated by L3x3x1/4 inch angles running the length of the T-region, which are welded to the vertical member with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds. Two 1-inch diameter bolts are installed on each side, centered within 3-inch slotted holes to accommodate movement. These bolts must be installed finger-tight, with jam nuts provided or threads spalled to prevent loosening over time.
