A concrete pit is cast with an 8-inch thick base slab and walls reinforced with number four bars spaced at twelve inches on center each way, centered in the wall. Continuous number four reinforcing bars run horizontally at the top and bottom corners. The top edge of the pit supports a flush steel grating spanning up to four feet maximum unless noted otherwise. Slab thickness and reinforcement are sized per plan.
