The connection consists of a lug plate fastened with bolts at typical spacing and edge distances, welded to a gusset plate that transitions to the steel core. A casing cap is fitted at each end of the casing, which encloses the steel core of thickness tsc and height Hc. Fillet welds connect the lug plate and casing components as indicated by the weld symbols. Dimensional variables denote plate dimensions, edge distances, and lengths for fabrication and assembly.
