Buckling-restrained braces frame into a structural steel column web with the braces positioned below the intersecting beam. The connection utilizes a cap plate welded to the column web and flanges with complete joint penetration welds, along with typical continuity plates. A gusset plate with a one-half inch radius cope connects the brace to the assembly using complete joint penetration welds on three sides. One-half inch minimum stiffener plates matching the column flange are provided at the connection locations.
