New or existing steel beams connect via a beam web plate connection with a half-inch minimum clearance. Drilled holes of one-inch maximum diameter allow new horizontal wall reinforcement to pass through the beam web. Notes require coordinating wall reinforcement placement with beam location to minimize drilled holes, and strengthening existing connections per engineering details prior to drilling where required.
