Option A welds the longitudinal support directly from the metal deck to the beam flange according to the metal deck schedule. Option B introduces a continuous flat plate with a minimum thickness matching the deck and a sixteen-gauge minimum, providing support where high flutes are cut or two separate deck sheets are used. Longitudinal support welds secure the plate to the beam flange and the deck to the plate per the metal deck schedule. A two-inch minimum dimension maintains typical placement requirements.
