A structural steel connection framing beams or channels to an HSS post or hanger features a continuous shear tab passing through the slotted HSS column. A one-half-inch cap plate is placed at the top of the post where required. The shear connection utilizes a continuous shear tab extending through the column tube, with bolts and plate sizing specified per the non-moment beam connection schedule. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size secure the connection assembly with applied perimeter sealant.
