A structural steel column connects to a concrete foundation via a base plate with anchor bolts sized per structural plans. A buckling-restrained brace (CoreBrace BRB) frames into a gusset plate welded to the column and base plate assembly, with typical stiffener plates provided at the column web. A concrete block-out is formed in the surrounding concrete slab on grade to accommodate the gusset and base connection. Weld sizes and plate thicknesses are indicated by variable callouts on the drawing.
