A new hollow structural section collector aligns over an existing roof deck and is fastened with number twelve drillflex screws spaced at six inches on center through a continuous quarter-inch by ten-inch plate. A new three-eighths-inch shaped plate connects at each joist alongside a vertical plate, welded to the existing supporting plate with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. The existing joists bear upon the joist girder top chord with specific clearances and plates as referenced in the structural plan.
