A structural steel moment connection joins a framing beam to a frame column using continuous plates top and bottom and a bolted shear tab at the beam web. The beam flanges connect to the continuous plates with complete-joint-penetration welds reinforced with backing bars and field-welded 5/16-inch fillets. The beam web connects to the column flange through a bolted plate with a 5/16-inch fillet weld at the erection plate. Continuous plates extend on both sides of the column and are detailed per specific structural notes.
