A wide-flange steel column bears on a steel base plate secured to a concrete foundation by headed anchor rods referenced in the schedule. Leveling nuts or steel shims are placed beneath the plate to establish elevation, with a one-and-a-half-inch nominal layer of non-shrink grout filling the space below. The anchor rods feature a six-inch minimum threaded bolt projection and receive washers and nuts at the top of the base plate. Fillet welds connect the column profile to the base plate on both sides.
