A four-sided opening frame composed of an L4x4x1/4 angle or channel is detailed for a deck penetration, supported by structural framing. The vertical leg of the framing angle is coped to allow the horizontal leg to extend over the support. Connections are specified with one-eighth inch fillet welds typically, with three-sixteenth inch fillet welds at specific locations. A channel or angle frame is installed per sheet 7/S-213 around the deck opening as required.
